I walk past old floating pontoons most days and love the effects of weathering and the munching of the gribble worms. The pontoons are 50/60 years old and constructed from pitch pine and held together by steel pins with bolts. The pieces shown here are segments chopped up with a chainsaw, it’s quite a tough old job dismantling them as the steel pins are quite often hidden and make chainsawing a risky business.
